“… viewers have a powerful urge to uncover or invent narrative… painting, like film establishes an interactive viewer-object relationship that invites intertextual and contextual elaboration.” Robert Rosen, Notes On Film and Painting.
Exploring that very ‘urge’ for narrative, Kuzmycz’s artwork is reminiscent of film stills – a pause in time – a mere fragment of a story which begs to be pieced together.
Her art practice also explores concepts of identity, and in particular female identity in mass media and popular culture.
Kuzmycz is an artist, who has also worked for many years as a Graphic Designer and Art Director in the Advertising/Film Industry. Schooled in both Design and Fine Art at RMIT University in Melbourne, which brings a pop cultural awareness to her work.
