Some of the work I produce is a reaction against what human’s have become in the post industrielised world, and how we react against the natural world, making everything in turn unnatural. The world as we now Know is today is dramatically different to that of what we knew of it a hundred years ago, people have become addicts of eveyday things like cars, ipods, coca-cola they have replaced the natural products world with the unatural human invention. Not to say some things are okay as long as they have a limited impact on the natural enviroment but unfortunatly most people live beyond there means. So in alot of my work i try to focus on these issues espcially those to do with oil consumption in cars and how was have been fought over it. Also other issue’s like logging old growth forest’s for toilet paper. The introduction of non native species, like the cane toad, etc. I do this by painting in a semi-realist/ surrealist styles.
I also like to produce works of beauty, like arbitary watercolour backgrouds similar to Jackson Pollacks work in the Abstract Expressionism movement. I then paint an image or image’s of realist flower’s done in Gouache over the top. to create an intresting and asthetically beautiful piece full of life.
My main Influences are art from wetern culture’s but due to an interst in Asian art this has also sepped through to my own work, especially in the water colours.
I am Currently studing At Victoria University, and am in my final year in the visual arts course, but I have also been a practicing part-time artist for the past ten years, and am now full time.
Cheers for reading
